Ok someone told me that Blue Oval News said that ford was going to put a 427 in the car in 2002 or 2003. I went there and couldn't really find any hard evidence. Just that they said the 4.6 was not looking good for the car. I keep looking and find a page with stats on the 2003 mustang and cobra. It looks like there is going to be 4 available engine seletions for the mustang. A 3.0L DOHC with 215HP and a 4.0L with 210HP. Top speed for both is 120. The other two engine options are the 4.6 SOHC GT with 285HP and a 4.9 SOHC GT with 290HP. Top speed for these two is rated at 142. Now the Cobra. It's engine will be a 5.0L with 350HP and it's top speed is rated at 155mph. Oh yeah none of the models are available with a supercharger. I was just woundering if anyone else has heard of the 427 to make a comeback in the cobra. I also seen this posted at another website. I have no Idea where he got his info. " Anybody see the latest announcement from Ford about the 2002 Cobra? They've redesigned the old 427 cammer motor, now it has electonic fuel injection, over 665 hp & can pass emissions in every state!! According to 'Blue Oval News', it runs 9.90's on street tires, through the mufflers...a little pricey at $46,000 but still a heII of a deal compared to Vipers & Corvettes.Remember this day, Ford's #1!" So if anyone knows any info about it please tell me! That would be so sweet if Ford did that!

I have a strong suspicion that this is an April Fool's prank...actually, I guarantee it is because I started the rumor.(I go by SeeOurWrecks at Speedmagazine)
Would be cool though, wouldn't it?

That's gotta be an April Fools thing. A 350hp 5.0L modular isn't out of the question, but a 427 modular? C'mon.

Actually 84_GT350, the SOHC 427 was built back in the mid/late 1960's, and the current modular motors were loosely based on it.

As far as making the 427 pass emissions? I really, really, really, really, really doubt it could be done while having the thing resemble anything near what it did back then.

That motor was one of the dirtiest engines ever produced.

Yes, it was a prank...I admitted to that earlier. (I had written that at Speedmagazine less than an hour before I came over here & found this thread, quoting me...)
Anyway, back to the 427 cammer. Fantastic motor, awesome power (658 hp in 2x4 bbl. form)but yes, quite dirty. For more cammer info, please go here to the cammer page (http://www.me.mtu.edu/~prater/cammer.html).
