Well I went back to the muffler shop and found out that I had an exhaust leak and that was some of the noise that I did not like but when they got it fixed it did sound better but it still did not sound good to me.
I had them cut off the tail pipes and put turndowns on it and all I can say is WOW!!!

This thing sounds mean. I take back every bad thing I ever said about the 1 chamber flows.
They are 3" 1 chamber flowmasters with 3" turndowns.
I will try to get some sound clips soon.

Hummm thats interesting. I was putting my panhard bars on the other day, and I had to cut my tail pipes off because the bars wouldn't clear the tail pipes. With no tail pipes and 3 chamber flows my car was loud as ELL. But I put turn downs on and now it is quieter than with the tail pipes on whats gives?? Shouldn't my car be louder with the dumps than with the tail pipes, or is it just time to get the 2 chamber or maybe even the 1 chambers? Let me know how the 1 chambers sound; I might just go ahead and get those. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

If you are going to do turn downs and not run it out the back or just straight out the muffler (I don't know if that would sound any different) then I would go with the 1 chambers but if you are going to go with the tail pipes then I would go with the 2 chambers.
I will try to get some sound clips of it up here.
This thing sounds........... mean as h e l l.
I keep getting people turning around and staring real hard, it's kind of funny.

Right now I have my turn down right at the exit of my mufflers. I would of though that it would of made it louder or at least some what because the sound is echoing under the car, but it made it quieter http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/confused.gif. So I guess what your saying is that I'm putting in a order for some 1 chambers in the morning. Tail pipes are out of the question, it was either tail pipes or panhard bars. "And the winner is?" Panhard bars. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

I had them out the back before and now I have turn downs, and its definatly louder, especially at idle. Its a lout more rumbly, and I only have 3 chambers. Its just right. I dont think I'd want it any louder at all.

Hummm..maybe it could be my X-pipe, but I do agree my car is also louder at idle and at WOT than it was before. But I just don't understand how it is quieter everywhere else. Before I put the turn downs on you could just barly hear my blower (tail pipes), now with the turn downs you can just barly hear my exhaust over my blower. Oh well I'm switching to a full length header setup after I get my tubular K-member. Maybe that will louden things up a bit with full lengths and the such. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Are turn-downs legal? A catalog I'm looking at says 'for race applications only'. And they won't fit with a panhard bar? Also, why put on the turn down, why not just cut of the tail pipe?

My panhard bars didn't clear my tail pipes, they lacked about 1/2in before they would clear. I could of just banged them in about 1/2 in untill the bars would of swung by them, but I wanted to try turn downs anyway. It was a good excuse to put the dumps on. I did try running with out the dumps but my car had such a bad drone at about 1200-1300 when I would pull off from a stop that everything in side of the car would shake and rattle. The drone was so bad that things that I have in my cup holder would actually shake and rattle out into the floor boards. When I put the dumps on it quieted the drone down a lot, as far as being legal I'm really not sure. I don't see why my setup would be illegal because all I did was put on dumps instead of tail pipes. I'm still running my X-pipe and 3 chamber flows, just no tailpipes. But I could see where a cop would give me trouble about not having tail pipes because he would think I was just running straight headers or something..
