![]() We're needing to purchase a third vehicle (teenager gets the wife's old van) and she wants a mustang that's a good value. Have recently seen a few 98's with V-6 (good for insurance values) coupes and convertibles. Had one dealer ready to sell me one with 49k miles for around $10k.
What should I be looking for? Any recommendations? We need to cost to be at or below $10k and this will be a cash deal. |

![]() To be honest with you I'd try to get a 99 V6. They have the extra oomph that the 94-98 cars lacked.

![]() Unfortunately, 99 and up get quickly out of my price range for this car. According to NADA and KBB, I thought that the 10k figure was about right. Is the market not supporting their estimates?

I guess it depends on the options and where you are. Most of the cars that I am familiar with are in Canada. ![]() $10,000. for a '98 V-6 with 49k is a good deal.
As with any used car, beware prior accident damage or a false odometer setting. Get a warranty and have the car inspected by your own mechanic. $10k is a lot of cash to spend on a lemon so don't rush into buying because it looks good or the price is 'one day only'. Good luck. |

![]() Look to make sure all the body panels line up evenly. If they don't then it may have been in an accident. Someone on this site can run the VIN# through Carfax for ya too.

![]() Thanks for the updates. I've already talked to my mechanic's shop to make sure they can perform a pre-purchase inspection and every potential seller I have been dealing with is willing to "loan" the car for this inspection.
I figured I would have to pay the $$ to get a CARFAX report, but if someone can do that for me as we settle on a vehicle, that would be great. |
