Question The Best Idea I have ever had...

OK we have the cobra from the SVT boys and we have the lighting from them too and now we even have a focus(I think) so what about people like me who have always loved the little trucks? I was on my way to my grnadparetns this AM when this lil red ext cab ranger pulled up beside me at a light and it got me to thinking a factory supercharger from ford? maybe? think about it A SVT Ranger a supercharged V6 or heck play your cards right and a supercharged 4.6L in a ranger imagine the possibilites...I personally would sell my soul to have a truck like that so you have my oppinion what do you all think?

sure, a rocking factory ranger would be cool. I dont think any body whos into horsepower or modifying cars/trucks would disagree with you.

However, I dont think ill sell my soul for one. Your on your own there.

I never liked the idea of having a powerful truck, due to the rear-end being so light. Seems like one would have to tub it to get good traction. That reminds me of a guy that runs his S-10 around town. Its a longbed and he has a built 350 IN THE BED. 700R4 built tranny, shortened driveshaft, 9in rear end. Pretty cool, runs high 11's..

I believe that SVT actually toyed around with it a while back. I saw a show (on TNN i think) that was interviewing John Collett (sp?) and gave a tour of a shop that had most of the ford/svt concepts and projects, including the GT40 concept, the super stallion, the big block orange BOSS car, and a 5.0 Ranger that they wouldn't give any info on. It can't be that hard for ford/SVT to fit a V-8 in a Ranger, its not much different than an 302 explorer.

another thing is, BBK is now making a supercharger for the 4.0L Ranger, which is already a pretty darn quick truck, nothing compared to a lightning but still decent

i would personally LOVE to own a V8 ranger

hey i can improve on your idea, what about an AWD supercharged DOHC 4.6 RANGER!

hey, GM made the typhoon and syclone (AWD turbo 4.3), why can't Ford make an AWD?

There's an article in the latest HRM that I received today about John Coletti and SVE, SVO, FRT or whatever they call it at the moment.

He said they developed a 5.0 Ranger at the same time that they developed the Lightning. The result was that folks smiled at the quick Ranger but when they saw how the Lightning performed, they said "HOLY S**T, what was that?".

Of course the Lightning is what we got and as it should be.
