![]() I have a 95 GT (yeah I know this is the 4.6 section) with only Hooker MaxFlow Mufflers and a quazi-cold air induction kit. Otherwise its a stock car. As such, I would like to know where I should turn my attention. My brother says new gears: 3.55's or 3.78's. What do you all think?

![]() Definately gears and maybe some more exhaust products.... I'd go with 3.73's, Long Tube Headers and Cat H-pipe...
It's really about personal preference. I love exhaust mods cause they make the car sound so bada$$, and they add a nice kick in the pants as well. Gears are a must have mod as well... ------------------ 2000 GT Conv. 5speed Triple Black Current Mods: K&N, Mobile 1, MagnaPack Cat-Back, Steeda Tri-Ax ET: 14.32@100.0 Upcoming Mods: BBK Longtubes, BBK H-pipe w/cats, and much much more |

![]() I totally agree with cravnpup. I'd say go with 3.73s and a cat H-pipe. I am still debating pullies. They may not be a good idea for people who like to use their A/C and occasionally spend time in traffic...

![]() Hey King Snake, I just put my pulleys on my 97 Cobrathis week and I am in Florida where AC is a must. I have seen no problems as of yet. What were you talking about when you said "spending time in traffic"? I haven't done that yet. Will I see some problems? I hope not. They were more trouble than they are worth to put in.
As for SFINN1, I'd definitely say throw those gears in, but go used. There are some good guys, especially on this site, that can give you really good deals on used gears. A lot of people throw a set in to realize that they do too much highway driving and drop down one ratio after a short time, leaving you with a barely used set of gears. ------------------ 1997 Cobra, C+L 80mm MAF, Pro 5.0 shifter, BBK Springs, Taylor Wires, 2 Chamber Flows, ASP Pulleys, MAC off road H pipe. |

![]() cobrayankee, you mentioned that many people find that they do too much city driving for their gears. I drive on the interstate 2-4 days a week. Are 3.73's reasonable or shall I go with 3.55's? This is a real concern for me.

![]() Cobrayankee:
By "spending time in traffic" I just mean getting stuck in rush hour traffic where you don't see anything over 15 MPH for 15-30 minutes. I was in traffic the other day and noticed my temp gauge was higher than I had ever seen it (about on the "M"). I had the A/C running. I was just wondering how pullies would have effected my temperature in that situation. Did you get March, Steeda, or some other brand? Do you recommend pullies? And last but not least, does it feel any quicker? sfinn1: I have 3.73s in my Cobra and I love them. I do occasional highway driving and have no complaints. However, with your 5.0 it may be a little different. ------------------ '97 Cobra, K&N, 3.73s, Rio Red [This message has been edited by King Snake (edited 09-25-2000).] [This message has been edited by King Snake (edited 09-25-2000).] |

![]() SFINN, it was highway driving I was talking about, and 3.73's should be about right. No big problem's there. Go for it.
Hey Kingsnake, they are ASP's. I went went them because of the price. But I now noticed my temp guage bumped up higher today. I left it running while in the car wash and it was about 88 and extremely humid. As far as the power, you know how that goes. Mentally you're thinking "Wow, I can really feel this" but I'm not so sure. If anything, I'd say it pulls stronger through second. (I may just be comforting myself to get my $120 worth!) But as far as the trouble putting them on, it wasn't worth it. ------------------ 1997 Cobra, C+L 80mm MAF, Pro 5.0 shifter, BBK Springs, Taylor Wires, 2 Chamber Flows, ASP Pulleys, MAC off road H pipe. |
