My old man has a 97 cobra coupe totally stock. The car has 28k miles on it. What would be a fair price to offer him? The car has way to much power for him and I don't think he has ever had it past 80 mph! It would be a shame if he traded it in to a dealer who would under value the car. I may give him my 95 Explorer w/56k miles plus cash. How much cash would I have to throw in to make it a good deal for both of us?

You'd probably get about $16,000 for it as a trade in. And the dealer would sell it for about $19,000.

It depends on what the Explorer is, and in what kind of shape its in, on how much its worth.

Around here in PA, i would expect to see that car sell outright for $17-18K and a dealer $21K... cars seem to be a little more expensive around here then some places.

Yeah, I thought around 20k. I think it may be a bit out of my range right now. Such a shame to let that car leave the family. Thanks for the input.

Remember, a dealer will sell it for $19-21K, thats not what they are going to give your dad for it. They will give you about $3k less then they will sell it for, so figure about $16-17. Have him see what they offer him, then if it is low enough for you to afford, your set.
I just did Kelley Blue Book, value is $17,250 trade in. Good Luck
