Question Stewart or Edelbrock waterpump?

Ok I just got the OK from the wife to get some stuff for my cooling system befor the summer heat gets here with its 105+ degree weather. Which water pump would be better to run between the Edelbrock and Stewart? Also I will be getting the Heavy Duty fan clutch and heavy duty fan. Can't get an electric because I don't have the money for a new alternator upgrade. Unfortunately I will still be using the stock radiator too. Any help will be appreciated.

Chris

I have the Stewart and it works great my car never goes over 180 degrees, I have a Ron Davis Radiator, Flex fan (switching to Perma-Cool electric while the motor is out) and 195 degree thermostat. My Stewart was $69.00 for the un-polished version.

You don't need a alt upgrade to run a electric fan either, so I would go with a electric model if you can, but the stock set-up works really well from what I have been told.

I've got an Edelbrock unit myself and it works pretty good. The Edelbrock is designed for flow in one direction as well as higher block side operating pressures. Which tends to force steam pockets out and helps to reduce hot spots and increases the boiling point.

The Stewart is also designed to increase flow by 40% and even distrube water to both heads to elimate the hot spots, and they are rebuildable

Cool

Thanx for the replys guys. I think I am going to go ahead and get the Stewart water pump. I have been reading up on their pumps from their page, and they seem a lot like the Edelbrock pumps. Rick, where did you order your pump from? Right from Stewarts? Also, how do you like your Ron Davis Alm. radiator? I am trying to decide between that and the SVO Alm. radiator. Think I got my wife talked into letting me get one!

Wink

I ordered direct from Stewart. I really like the Ron Davis it was well worth the $269. I bought it through Tommie Vaughn Ford, but Downs also carries them. It doesn't have a drain though so you have to pull the bottom hose to let the fluid out, I made a custom plate to hold it on the top similar to the one's that Holocomb sells. I am afraid now with my A/C gone the motor will run too cool with all the extra air it will see running through it.

I have the Edlebrock unit on my stroker here in So. Cal. and it keeps it nice and cool. Make sure you check the water pump to dampner clearance at least 10 times. My buddy neglected to do this and damn near ruined his fluid dampner. I ground some off mine, thought it was clear, and still got a nice scratch ring in my fluid dampner.
Also, I run the Flex-a-Lite black magic fan with my setup and it works great even with the poor airflow of my "Pre-space age vehicle".
