We just finished putting the granada disks on my 65 and ran into a little problem. The lower ball joint doesn't fit snugly and there isn't enough room for the castle nut to force it down like it normally would. Should I get an insert for the lower bj to snug it up or should I replace the lbj with one from a granada? Which one would be harder to do? Where do I get the inserts if that is your answer? TIA, Junkie

You do mean the ball joint and not the outer tie rod end don't you? The lower ball joint from the mustang should fit the Granada spindle. The outer tie rod either needs a bushing in the spindle or the use of a Granada outer tie rod end.

No, I switched the tie rods. The lower ball joint just doesn't seem to fit.

Was it a '75-78 Granada spindle?

I thought they were granada spindles but from what I am being told, they are versailles spindles.

Not sure why it doesn't fit. My '66 lower ball joint fit the Granada spindle. I know the Granada and Monarch spindles are the same. I thought the Versailles were the same too, but I'm not sure on that. You could call Mustang Plus and ask them as they're big on supplying parts for that conversion.

The Lincoln spindle uses a different lower ball joint than the Granada spindle.
