No I had an engine builder build it for me. He dialed it all in on the Dyno. Runs nice 2.78 first gear 4 spd and 4.33 rear. Solid roller cam 244 @ 50 and 6.23 lift. 11-1 comp. 800cfm double pumper. RAY

I'd go 2.5 inches. If your going to be doing some street driving. Or 3 if its track only. 2 chambers are fine 1 chamber is to obnoxious.

My '66 is pretty loud even with 3 chamber Flowmasters. Tri-Y headers and custom 2 1/2" pipes make the rest of the exhaust system. My car is 99% street and 1% track. I don't think I could stand it any louder.

If it's mild backfiring that might be ok. Your new exhaust has little back pressure and scavenges the cylinder better. This can pull raw air/fuel mixture in the exhaust on de-cel under load. This will cause mild backfiring. If it's loud then that's not good.

You might want to check for vacuum leaks. I had a tear in my brake booster diaphram. The thing sounded like a gunshot on de-cel.

Do you have tail pipes? Any droning?

Mine used to do this, I tracked it down to two things. One, and most likely it, was the carb. I found out that it was the wrong size and let too much air bypass under the carb. I fixed my stock carb, bought new gaskets, and tuned it, also replaced the pcv valve, yess, you still need it for your vave covers. The other thing was the fact the I just put in new Cherry Bombs and think that the unburnt gas stays in the muffer. It makes a really nice big flame out of the tip, I got a two - three foot flame out of mine.
