Default Pertronix

I've got a Pertronix Ignition coming in the mail for my 68 and I'm wondering about something. Somewhere in the fog of my memory I seem to recall that these old points systems ran on 6V unless you had the starter engaged. The full 12V gets delivered from the active solenoid for better starting, but once the solenoid drops out you only get 6V for better point life.

If so, do I wanna run my Pertronix on 6V?
