I know this might be a stupid question but - how do I know which gears fit my car?
I wanted to get a 3.55 rearend.
I just want to make sure I don't buy the wrong ones. How do I know they'll fit my car?
just make sure you get and 8.8 inch Traction Lok gears. the 9" are different. you have an 8.8 axle in your car. any gears will fit, as long as they are 8.8 Traction Loc gears. most aftermarket list gears 8.8 or 9. when you order them, just tell them what car you have. now what gear ratio to go with? it all depends on what you want to do with your car. it also makes a difference if you have a stick or an auto. overall, for both, usually 3.73's are the best. i put in 3.55's cause i think it is a little better for road racing. since i dont drag my car, i dont need steeper gears. if you have an auto, 3.73's or 4.10's. if you have a stick, 3.55's,3.73's or 4.10's. just remember that if it is your daily driver, then too steep of a gear would be useless. others on here can probably help you out too. hope i helped.
