Default What aftermarket exhaust sounds best?

What's the coolest sounding aftermarket exhaust? I am looking to upgrade my stock exhaust and don't know which brand to turn to. A friend has a 90 GT stang with flowmasters, they sound great but are somewhat loud. Was considering Borla or Dynomax... what combos is everyone using? Thanks.

There are all different levels of flowmasters. If you leave the h-pipe stock the flowmasters arent too loud. If even that is too loud you could get 3 chamber flowmasters. Good luck.

Default Flowmasters...

Yeah, my friends GT sounds brutal with his flowmasters. In my cobra acceleration is accompanied by a high-pitched burble that ends up becoming overwhelmed by the motor's high RMP song. In my friends GT the exhaust lets the passengers know it is there and working 100% of the time... irregardless of road noise, traffic condition or the 'occasional' 4k powershift. This last month I was tinkering with the stereo in my car (mach 460), and started to wonder why FoMoCo elected to put such a stereo in the mustang (I just learned the 2003 cobra will use a 1150 watt stereo. yikes). I mean, come on, 460 peak watts? That's almost too much. But then it donned on me: if I did get some killer exhaust setup I'll need the wattage just to hear some tunes lol. thanks for the advice 96GT

The sound of Two Chamber Flowmasters and an off-road H-pipe is.....just............wicked. IMO hands down the best sounding exhaust.

Get Flowmaster 2 chambers. They are loud but sound great and aren't annoyingly loud. I wouldn't buy a Borla cat back because they will make your car sound like rice/euro trash and they are also almost $600 just for the cat back system. You can hear the Flows at www.flowmastermufflers.com.

American Thunder 2 chamber is what I have. You might not like the loud drone at 2200 rpm, but I personally love it, as do most people. Then theres the sound at full throttle....

I've got a Mac Prochamber with Mac mufflers also. It sounds pretty mean! I get comments all the time that the sound is so much better than the typical flowmaster sound. If you want the same old sound that you hear on the street, flows is the way to go. But if you want a new aggresive sound, check out a Mac system. Also, it is probably the easiest to install yourself. No clamps or anything. Just my opinion!

Cool no doubt about the flomaster

go with the flo.... mines sounds evil when you accelerate, and they sound nice and deepp but low when at a light at 1000 rpm...the more your engine screams, you flow master exhaust will yell fury.....

96GTfanatic,
When you replaced the cats with off-road, did you notice any reduction in lowend torque?
I am thinking of doing the same and was told to not get rid of back pressure.

Thanx
