Question how close to death were you?

I was just talking to my friends about this one time we were all riding our motorcycles(when we had them). Me and my friend Rich had cbr 900's, and my friend tony had a cbr600 f4.

Me and rich were hauling down the country roads at about 140mph and I cought air comming over a little hill. I about craped my pants so we stopped and we were talking about it on the road. There was about 4' between me and Rich when my friend Tony thought it would be a good idea do drive between us. Tony was a good distance behind us so he had allot of catching up to do. I just stuck my arm out at rich explaining what happend when Tony flew between us doing about 80mph My finger nicked his handle grip and busted it wide open. lets just say that it was a long time before we rode with Tony again.

Now don't flame me. This was in the middle of know where with a house about every 2 miles and long driveways. The only people at risk was ourselves.

ummmm let's see: which is better? Smashing the Probe into a wall or flipping the civic over a guardrail? don't ask...

BTW: safest cheap, small car for your money is a Honda Civic. I completely and utterly totalled my car THANKS to an a*shole semi driver, and I didn't have a scratch on me...still a scary experience *shudder*

Which time I was near dying...?

The time we were snowmobiling, and hit a bump, and FLEW off a snowmobile so high that I _kicked_ the helmet off my buddies head as we both got tossed off the snowmobile that crached into a tree...

Or on my honeymoon, where I caught a bad wave in Hawaii, and was tossed face-first into the beech and came home with a broken neck, and 3 busted teeth, and a big skidmark on my face...

Or the time I got hit in the elbow by a truck mirror, while I was riding my motorcycle...

Or the time I was doing a wheelie on the motorcycle, and the throttle stuck, and I _almost_ went wide-open into a parked car on one wheel...

Or the time I tried doing a backflip while snow skiing, and _only_ dislocated both my shoulders...

Hmmmmmm. Wonder why my wife has my payroll deduct extra to get 3X my life insurance policy!

Woh' drudis you just have bad luck. lol
Near death? hmm... I started a thread like this awhile back. Well I'm only 17. December 6th (3 months ago today) I got into my accident I slid around a sharp corner over someones front lawn, over there driveway, and over the next persons lawn. I had a hydro poll to my left which was about 2 feet from me. And I stopped 1 foot from a big tree infront of me. If you look at the tire marks I missed 2 trees when I went over the curb by about 1-2 feet. That was pretty scary stuff. Mostly afterwords when I relised I was close to smoking a tree. It was a wet day and the ground was really mushy so that is why I slid so far. Then exactly 1 month later (January 6th) I was in the car with my 2 good friends (I was in the backseat) and we hit black ice, I was looking out the window and we hit the gardrall bounced off it did a 180 and smoked it again. That was pretty scary stuff also, but no one was hurt again. 20 days later (January 26th) I was at my friends house and he had his snowmobiles out, I never was on one before so he took me for a ride then let me drive it for abit, I went real slow at first then I started speeding up but I had enough room so I was fine, I was doing 180's and stuff playing around. Well I goosed it and then did a 180 when I hit a patch of grass and I went flying, and the snow mobile rolled, luckily not really on me. That was pretty intense. I was alittle bruised up but yet again fine. This was all in a month and a half's time. And all involved with a 6 in the ending date. You better believe Februrary 6th I stayed off the road, and even March 6th (today) I didn't drive. And always cautious when I see the number 6. There has been acouple times where my friends and I have come close to smoking dick heads that pull infront of us out of no where and stuff but we keep it safe.

Take Care All,
§am.

Damn....that was a close one, WADS56.

Closest I came was back in 1996. By all rights I shouldn't be here right now.

I was late for a meeting and ended up driving head on into a ditch on the near side of an S curve at 80 mph. Pulled a pretty cool Dukes of Hazard trick...MAN!, I wish someone had it on video!

Rolled my Mustang. No seatbelts. Scary ****. Minor injuries--don't know how.

Cut my wrist on a wire fence and it knicked my artery; I was only in 3rd grade and I lost a lot of blood.

Thats what I was thinking! The thing is that we had our helmets on so it is hard to hear eachother. If Rich couldn't of herd me I would of leaned over and would of lost my head.

coming back from the drag races and knew the road i was on was
a few miles long and straight i decided to see how fast my car would go, well got it up to 135 and THEN thought about trying to stop or make the curve at the end, well there was no way i was going to stop and i only had 2 options: 1. go though locked gate and into field or try to make tht turn. i tried to slow down enough to make the turn but 4 wheel drum brakes don't do much at that speed so as soon as i hit the turn my back end swung out and i slid into the canal luckily i had my seat belt on and didn't hit my head and i was able to get out of my car beofre it sunk. later i though that what if my seatbelt didn't open or if there was an alligator in there!!

I don't know about others but I like near death experiences. It really gets the heart racing. =) Aslong as no one is hurt obviously, and if it doesn't cost a ton to fix such as a accident. I can't wait tell I turn 18, I want to go skydiving!

Mind as well do stupid things while your young,

I was in a Chevy Spectrum with my sister driving as we went to kansas. On the Florida turnpike around orlando, her son started crying (maybe 2 at the time, if that), she turned to look at him and her left tires went off the left hand side of the road and she panicked and yanked the tires on, and started sliding. At that time she started freaking out which woke me up, and I looked out of the passenger window and saw tha road coming at me, then it flipped, then rolled in the grass in the median, it rolled a bout 5 times according to witnesses when it ended on the passenger side door in the fast lane of the southbound traffic! A truck just missed us, if it would have hit us, I wouldn't be here now! That was probably the closest to death I have ever come!

Well, when I was about 16, I drove between two dump trucks at 40mph...even in an Explorer, I doubt I would have survived.

And when I was 17 or so, lightning hit my garage while I was standing just outside of it. Saw flashes when I closed my eyes for weeks afterwards.

Then, I had a gun pointed at my head a few months ago. Fortunately it was a cop, but still, kind of scary.

Well this was the last time.

A group of us were tearing up some back roads on motorcycles. We were coming up on a set of long sweepers. Somehow I got behind a Buel coming up on the corners. After going through the 1st turn (about 90mph) I got in the other lane to pass him ran up to about 140 real quick let off and looked back to make sure I could get over and the guy stuck to the inside of the lane and kept on the throttle to try and keep me from getting over. I was coming up into the next corner way too hot. I must have only breaked for about 1/2 of a second before I had to cut right in front of him and dive into the corner about 120mph over the yellow lines. Needless to say I had to clean out my leathers after that one.

My friends and I were riding in a '79 Blazer on the way back home from the River on a 102' summer day. We had 4 people in the truck and I was in a seat where the seatbelt was broken (I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt, but couldn't this time). The bolt holding the steering box to the frame snapped due to fatigue from the extra stress of having a big lift and 35x12.50s. We went straight into an oak tree at 40 mph. I hit the back of the driver's seat (hard plastic) and busted my cheekbone, had 4 large lacerations on my head, broken tibia, my left foot turned all the way around and separated from the ankle, and plastic embedded in my knee. As soon as we hit the tree the truck caught on fire as the Holley Pro-jection system did not have an inertial cutoff and kept pumping gas on the motor. Luckily the driver was not injured and he pulled the two of us that survived the crash out. I had only short pants on and pulled myself back from the truck once he put me on the ground to escape the heat from the flames, unwittingly pulling my pants down my butt. I had 3rd degree burns on my azz because the pavement was over 160' and I couldn't even feel it burning because of shock. My other friend broke both legs and his girlfriend died on impact.

If you have a lifted Chevy 4x4 with big tires or know someone that does, check the steering box bolts that hold it to the frame!
