I just bought a set of '69 351 heads that have been ported & polished. I only pay $300 for them is that a good deal? A freind told me he heard they were hard to find and they were good heads for street use. Does anyone know about '69 351 heads?

Funny, I have a set of C-9's from a 69 Torino GT on one of my work trucks, BUT! i dont know how true this is, New factory heads wont fit an older block, The engine is a 69 torino GT motor. Wonder if its strong enough to stroke and make 600 HP??? 700?

I think I'll get a baseline dyno and install the "69's then dyno again. I wounder why these heads are better than other 351 heads?

351W heads have larger ports, and the 1977 and older 351W heads also have a significantly smaller combustion chamber and larger valves.
Take care,

Chris,
What is the difference between the heads we are talking about here and a set of Edelbrock Performer's on my 69 block??

I dont think the older heads flow anywhere near what the newer ones do. The whole art of designing high flowing heads that flow consistently throught the lift range of the cam has come a long way in 33 years.

Your heads have bigger valves, and are 30 pounds lighter.

The '69 351W heads are nice heads. They come with slightly higher compression than the '70 heads. And have the 1.86 valves. Nice starting material. I ran these on my 351-W Zephyr Z7 that came to 10.7:1 with my combo.
Good find!
