Default Tremec Questions TKO vs TKOII

I'm ready to purchase a new tremec for my 93 Cobra and I need some help from the guys that already know a bunch about the TKO's. If I'm around 450hp and at the drag strip every other weekend would the TKO be plenty of tranny or is the TKOII worth the extra $500. Could someone tell me the major differences between the two. I have heard that the TKOII is a little stronger but has a higher overdrive. I have one more question are the proshifted TKOII a real pain in the butt to street drive I see alot of guys on this sight have the pro-shifted TKO's. Thanks for your input!

You can get any trans proshifted, and yes it is a pain in the rear to street drive but it can be done (I do it sometimes).
The Tko II has a stronger 3rd gear and a .86 5th gear while the Tko has a .68 5th. They both have the same input and output shaft. The Tko will hold your power output fine but the Tko II has a useable 5th gear(.86) not a econo gear(.68).
If you drag race your car most of the time the proshifted trans is the way to go. You can shift the thing above 6500 without problems and lightning fast. If your mustang is your only car don't get a proshifted trans you will tare it up on a daily driver.
Hope this helps,
Wade

I'm selling mine if you are interested.

Default Your post helps alot

I realy love this sight you talk to people that have the real thing, "have been there and done that" I'm sure the TKO is a lot more tranny than my factory t-5. My Cobra is my primary car, I have a truck to but not nearly as nice, or fast! Is there anyone reading this that does'nt like their TKO or has broken one easily?
