Unhappy stuck brake caliper

I am trying to put new brake pads on the rear and can't get the calipers to go in with a big c-clamp. Is there some trick with the parking brake? I removed the bleeder valve.

What kind of car?

You probably need to turn the piston in, not press it in. Most parts stores have a tool to make this easier.
