A question like this isn't really a matter of opinion. If cooling is your primary goal, straight water will cool the best. The problem is that straight water will corrode your water passages. Adding WaterWetter or anti-freeze will help prevent corrosion.

If you are already running an anti-freeze/water mix, WaterWetter will help with heat transfer and improve cooling.

NEVER run straight anti-freeze. Anti-freeze is not a coolant. It's what it says it is.

Come on you guy's, 167 views and only 2 responces, was it something I said?

well the boiling point of pure water (which we all know that tap water isn't exactly pure) is 212 degree's F. So if you run straight water then you better make sure you don't get much over 200 degrees.

Antifreeze will raise the boiling point (and lower the freezing point, duh) of water, but it makes it less efficient in transferring heat.
I run about 20-25% antifreeze with the rest water in the summer. And about 50-50 mix in the colder months.

hope this helps some,
-Drew

The boiling point of water is raised in a pressurized system which is what your cooling system is, and since it does transfer heat better it will cool off faster when in the radiator, making it cool better.

I should also mention that having a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water will only raise the boiling point by something like 3 degrees. The effect of pressure on the boiling point is something like 3 degrees for each psi over normal. A 15 PSI cap will raise the boiling point of water to something like 257 degrees.

How much of water and water wetter would I have to use? how much water and how much water wetter?

From Redline web site:
USE DIRECTIONS
One 12 ounce bottle treats 12-16 quarts of water or a 50% ethylene or propylene glycol solution. In smaller cooling systems, use 4-5 caps per quart. Add directly through the cooling system fill cap into the radiator or into the overflow tank. Do not open a cooling system while hot. For best protection for aluminum, replenish or replace every 15,000 miles. The anti-scaling ingredients in Red Line WaterWetter allow its use with ordinary tap water. However, using with distilled or deionized water will accomplish some scale removal in the cylinder head area. For maximum temperature reductions use the most water and the least antifreeze possible to prevent freezing in your climate. Even in summertime the use of air-conditioning can blow freezing air through the heater and cause freezing of the heater core unless approximately 20% antifreeze is used. Red Line WaterWetter is available in 12 ounce containers.
