![]() Are you referring to the Tremec 3550? If so, I'm not sure if they made them back in the 80's or not? However, I do know that the 'older' Tremec's had a weaker case that is prone to failure.
Other than that, a Tremec 3550 should bolt up to a 94 GT without any major issues. You may have to get a new adjustable trans brace, or break the welds on the old one and move to the proper location then re-weld. I just used the 'adjustable' one and had it welded. E

![]() The SN95's manual transmissions have a longer input shaft, and input bearing retainer. Therefore the bellhousing is longer too. A Tremec 3550, or TKO, or 93/down T-5 will work with the proper bellhousing.
Be prepared to lengthen your driveshaft either by retubing it or buying a spacer to bolt between the pinion flange and the end of the driveshaft. Also the shifter hole in the transmission tunnel will need to be cut out alittle on the front side. andy

![]() Is it worth it? Will I run into problems down the road? Someone was changing their 5 speed to an AOD in an 88 lx, and I was thinking of getting something more durable since the price is right now. The Tremec is about a year and a half old. $700 sound good?

![]() andy is absolutey correct. You will need to replace a couple of things bell housing drive shaft being the two biggest. I might be looking to sell my 3550 I'm trying to upgrade to a 6 speed send me a email if you are intertested. I'm not sure what price and not 100% sure if I'm going to sell it yet. I'm debating whether to sell it or not when my 331 goes in.
