Angry Disapointed Track Visits

I have done all the mods in my sig and i still cant escape the 14.9 timeslips. My best time ever was a 14.7 @ 93 mph with a 2.14 60ft time. Although the car runs 14.9 @ 93 mph with 2.2 60ft time. The wierdest part about this whole thing is that the 14.7 was achived when i acidently bogged at the starting line!!! I dunno what to do, I really think my car should be running faster with all the mods I have done. Any ideas????

Remove the Stereo system and try again! (those subs are heavy).

I would expect the car to run 14.0 with street tires. 13.50 with slicks.

Actually, bogging at the starting line is not always a bad thing. As your sixty foot time indicates you eliminated the spinning out of the hole.
1BadCobra has a good point about the stereo equipment. All that stuff adds up.
Was your chip custom made on a dyno? Sometimes those off the shelf chips do more harm than good.
Keep tuning and practicing and the better times will come.

The subs were out for all my runs, the spare tire too. I have done about 10 runs spread out over different days with different weather.....never getting any faster.

Wink

Isnt that ADS chip supposed to advance the timing for u instead of bumping it? myabe thats the problem. I'd ditch that chip and set timing to 14-16* using 93 octane. IMO, you should be seeing 98-99mph trap apeeds as is. Just something for u to compare to, my friend has a 90GT 5spd with just LT headers, H, and flows with 14* timing and went 14.4 @ 97 with a 2.3 60' on 17" street tires with stock 2.73 gears. How fresh is your tune up? Fuel filter clean and installed the right way? Ditch that chip!!

Unhappy Disappointing et

You should be seeing at least half-second better et's (low 14's).

I would also guess that the chip may be hurting performance, as they sometimes do.

The other mods you list are fairly minor but they shouldn't slow you down, although you don't need the 65mm TB on a stock intake and the shorties may cut your torque a bit, you should get it back on the big end.

The other explanation would be how you drive it; launch and shifts, mainly, and those I can't comment on without seeing you race. If you shift much above 5200 RPM you're going to lose some power.

Yeah i have been through the same logic guys. I knew the chip might be hurting me(especially since i had the timing advanced already) so i took it out a while ago....its sitting in the glove compartment if anyone wants it. I have tried lots of different launches and i shift at about 5100-5200 rpm with a shift light. I am not a pro-driver yet but the tires chirp a little when i shift as i am not to bad either. when i first got the car and it ran 15.3 but my trap speeds were a couple mph higher....explain that one!

Exclamation Losing power

If you've done all these suggestions already then I suspect an engine malfunction somewhere that is robbing power but not causing a miss or noticable problem.

I would try putting the engine on an analyzer to see if it shows any codes, then go from there.

That, or just sell it.
