Alright, with a stock mustang what kind of 1/4 times should I expect?
My car has 2.73 gears, K&N Cone filter, Nitto NT-450 tires 225/50/16's, Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, and a King Cobra Clutch.
Just the other day I beat my friend by half a car against his '76 FireBird with a 350sb. He runs constant 14.8's. I also beat my friend with a 1 car lead, and kept the 1 car on him the whole time, against his '88 Monte Carlo with a 400sb. He runs anywhere from 13.8-14.4 with it.
My last question is how accurate are those G-Tech Performance meters? Those are the ones you can plug into your cigarette lighter and it tells you a whole bunch of stuff.

Your car is a mid-high 14 second car. The G-tech gets the ET pretty close but the MPH are about 3 high.

He is an example with the G-tech.
i ran a 13.58 @ 104 on the track and i had the G-Tech hooked up that run. The G-Tech said i ran a 13.64 @ 108.
My G-Tech is about .25 seconds and 5mph optimistic for the 1/4 mile. From what I hear on this board though, mine may be off more than most others.
At near 100mph trap speeds, each car length is about .1 second ET.

Well I actually never hooked the G-Tech up to my car. Some kid where we meet had one and I was asking about it. He didn't really know alot about it. He said he just plugs it in, presses a button, and go's when it's set. Kinda weird he didn'ty know anything about them really, might've not been his.
I was actually just wondering about that kinda time becuase I've never been to any drag strips, only runs on the street. My other 2 friends recently went to a strip about 2 hours away during the past couple weekends. I was just looking for something to compare it to.
Anyways, I was just wondering what kind of time I should expect running my Stock Stang. Oh yes, 1 last question, say I run constant 15.00's with the 2.73 gears. Any idea what kinda time would drop off If i were using 3.73 gears? thanks again

Well who knows what u run but here is another GT i use to have.
It was an '87 with 215K on it, cat back, shifter (5 spd), and short belt. I ran 14.4 @ 97 in South Florida August heat last year.

Lower gears are not always gonna knock off time right away. When my car was stock I went from a 15.2 to a 15.4 after I went to 3.73 gears.
My mph improved but I had way too much wheel spin. After I got Nitto's though I dropped to a 14.9.

With traction you should be able to drop down to at least a 14.6 or .4 off your times i'd say.

With my car stock I ran a 14.9 @ 93.3mph after 3.73's I ran a best of 15.2 @ 95.5mph but with slicks I got up to 13.9 @ 95.8mph very hard to launch with normal radials.

When I fist got my car it had a cone K&N filter. Thats it, 2.73 gear, stock cat pipe, you name it. Got it to run a best of a 14.50 @95 and even got a 1.99 60 ft. But that was everything it had. Cant say much for the g-tech because i have never seen one. (probley a reason for that)

Well anyways I've never been to a Strip anyways. I wanna just get out and see what it can do before I start doing stuff to it. We do have a 1/8 here, but the track is pretty messed up.
Anyways, this car keeps suprising me more and more. I just raced my friend in his '86 Z28 Camaro. Auto, headers, 3.08's, K&N, no cats, flowmaster....lol just one..hehe, shift kit, pulleys, and I think that's all...oh..he went to a new MAF but still has the stock size. Anyways, we went to race, pulled over on the road, waited for the light. We got to race, but it was crap. We just got to the light like 5 secs before it turned green, and obviously he got the jump on me while I was trying to watch the other light, which was red when i looked up at it. I pulled massively on him in 2nd gear and ended up beating him by about a car length. I know it could've been more if i actually got a good start.
You guys got any more tips for me? I've been launching at about..2300-2500 rpms and found that i get a really good launch at about 2300. Shifting at 5400, at least that's what the factory tach shows. And I don't powershift, kinda afraid I'd screw something up bad. Any tips would be appreciated.

:( My best 60' is 2.19 with 3.55's and a stock 8.8 Trac Loc.I wish I had ET to match, I am more than 1.5 sec off at that 60'.:( I have been told by my 5.0 friends its just a Very hard leaving Car and it all seems to work,Throttle response and suspension wise.Remember, ET = Hooking and get up and go + HP and FTLBS of course, But MPH = HP!! I guess thats why I am under 90 Mph.:( --------5,400 shifts points are fine, I take mine to 5k with no worries and I am alot slower than you.IF you went to 3.73's you will think you put on a little NOS kit,do it.:D

MY CAR WENT 13.9 W/JUST LONG TUBE HEADERS,H-PIPE,STOCK MUFFLERS AND 355 GEARS WITH AN AUBURN POSI UNIT.....NOW IT GOES 13.30'S W/SOME MINOR MODS......BEST 60 FT WAS 1.8....W/DRAG RADIALS....I RAN A 13.4 AT 98MPH MISSING 4TH.....BEWARE..SLICKS AND STOCK 28 SPLINE AXLES DONT MIX........
now i know my 60 ft times are terrible(spinning), cause i was running on Starfire 225/60/15's (cheap tires) and this is my very first time racing. i was new to the whole thing. my mods are in my sig.
oh BTW, check out the temperature i was running at! is that a good time for that heat?
i know i need DR's! how is my reaction time for a beginner? seriously i dont know!
Rosco, MOMS is coming up soon. maybe you should go!

not bad..but i think you should prolly at leastof done a 14.0.....try leaving the line at about 2 grand.....if you spin..try 1700..and on down.....if at 2 g's your car goes out then nose dives..try a higher rpm.....with dr's im leaving at 5500....how hot was the temp of your car?......mineusually doesnt get past 180.....well....it was at 200 on wed or something..but thats cause i was on it goin down the highway in 100 degree temps..lol..and ive never run at cecil..but some people say they ran faster there than at atco......i dunno tho...as for your reaction time..500 is a perfect light....but if your 1st pass..not bad..but wake up ;).......im usually like 569 lights now....and ive only raced like a total of 12 times in my life......less spinning of your wheels will def help you in your 60 ft times.....if anybody else has opinions on this..reply back....in case any1 thinks im steering him wrong since im somewhat of a newbie to racing myself

You are 100% correct,BADAZZ89LX. You see spinning in the ET,ie: 60'. Mph is Not changed that much at all by spinning.

Your mph is definately affected by how much you spin. If you spin your mph will go up 2-3 mph. If you hook you will have a faster e.t. but your mph will be down a few. Cecil county is a very fast track. Definately the fastest track in md and i bracket race at all of them quite regularly. In the same conditions i am a tenth to a tenth and a half faster at cecil then at capitol raceway. Cecil is down hill past 1/8 mile.

Lol...can't believe this thread has been brought back to life :D
recently went to the local strip...no it's not a 1/4..not it's not an 1/8...it's actually a little shorter..due to the fact that we drag on an oval strip. I was pretty disapointed at my first run. Lost to some POS white galaxy. 2nd Run, knocked a 5.0 Capri out, CYA...3rd race...Broke out of class. They had me in the 6.8 class...first time ever racing there. Broke out with a 6.62. Now the next class up is 6.5. I know i can break outa that if i can get a little more traction. Traction at this place = launches at about 1200 rpms.
I'm actually thinking of driving further upstate ..maybe to syracuse or buffalo to goto a real 1/4 track.
Oh yeah, temp wise...I don't have an actual gauge...other then the one that is in the car. It runs usually at the 2nd line from the bottom...but occasionaly will run at the next line up.
*Update...Got some 2.5" Flows thrown on the Stang. It's like a brand new car. And i also figured out that I have 3.08's in the rear end.

Im guessing about mid to high 15's, Those meters fricking suck. Tried once and started laughing. Dont waste your money. I have a 93 Gt, Cold air intake, BBK shorty headers, Dr. gas X-pipe with full 2 1/2 inch piping with flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers, holley underdrive pulleys, msd 6A, electric fans, Centerforce II clutch, 245/50ZR16 Pirrelli P7000's, Hurst pro-shifter, My best time was a 15.3 @ 95mph. Stock 2.73 rearend. If you want to go fast at the track you need a rear-end, like a 3.27 or 3.55 of 3.73, you get the idea.
