Default fiberglass panels

I have read some articles on haveing fiberglass fenders and hood that said they were basicly bad if I wanted to drive on the street. IS THIS TRUE? I want to put fiberglass fenders, hood and apron on my 1966. planningto have a hoppedup engine to be only driven on the weekends. Whats your opinon?
