View Full Version : Electric Cooling Fans
Well, the heat is on, and its a pain to keep my stang cool. I've got a 16" Hayden Electric on there now, and its keeping it from boiling over, but that's about it, unless I'm moving.
My ideas/options and their prices:
Licoln MK VIII New: 380 cdn Junkyard: 250
95 Mustang GT New: 325 cdn Junkyard: 200
Black Magic: 450 cdn +/- 50 can't remember for sure, know its over 400
Any other ideas? Dual 12" ? From which vehicle? I'm nearing wit's end on this one. Please help!

You know I was having the same problems with my car here in the desert. I got tired of running the electric fan and so I went with the police package setup. I am running the police clutch and the police fan. Don't have any cooling problems now unless I am sitting in traffic not moving. Once I start moving it drops back down to about 190*. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice Chris. I have considered that setup, but right now I'm gonna stick with an electric fan, the car's already got one on it, just doesn't do quite a good job that's all.
Any suggestions on coolant mixture? 50/50+ water wetter I am told is one of the best ways to go.

just went through this whole problem...
I installed a Griffin radiator, new hoses, a 16" puller fans and a high flow Mr Gasket 180 stat. Running 50/50 mix..
the thing that seemed to help the most was the stat..
she currently runs 178-182 while driving, and jumps up to 215 while idling in traffic.
some guys i talk with are having luck with Water-wetter (some are'nt)..
I'm also installing an oil cooler to help keep that a little cooler and also a cowl scoop to help get rid of some more of the heat.

the cowl helps heaps im just running my little electric with a full rad from a fairlane station wagon. (my stock fan seized up last week so i pulled it off) but you can see and feel the air temp diffrence coming out of the cowl. I have a switch that i use to turn the fan on cause it use to be a pusher helper for the track. I have to figure out a way to wire it in to the tstat or find a sensor from another car that will work. also check your rad cap pressure that can have alot of effect on overheating that is often overlooked.
