![]() I ran a BBK H-Pipe w/cats for almost a year and never had a problem with the CEL coming on..... What finally set it off was the addition of the MAF/TA/Underdrive pulleys....
I can not say for sure whether it will or not.. If you get one w/o cats, it most likely will. However, you are 50/50 on the ones with cats... sometimes they set it off, sometimes they don't.... as I said, it didn't set off mine... but others on here put the same pipe on theirs, and it did trigger the CEL

![]() I put a MAC Pro-Chamber off road pipe on my car and it took about 20 miles for the check engine light to come on. I've also put off road pipes on 96-98 cars and the light came on everytime. If you get a h or x pipe w/ cats its a 50/50 chance the light will come on like someone already said. Get the MILs and you wont have any problems.

![]() Is there anything you can do besides buying MIL's (what are those?) that would turn the light off?

![]() Nevermind, upon further research I found the answer to my own question...
Quoted from www.mustangworld.com in their how-to section-- MAC (nor any other manufacturer) DOES NOT guarantee that you will NOT get a check engine light illumination. If the check engine light DOES come on you have a few choices: 1) Disconnect your battery overnight and reset your computer. 2) Re-program your ECC5 computer for the mod (with an ECC programmer). 3) Buy a computer chip that takes care of the problem in it's programming. or 4) Put variable resistors in-place where the sensors would normally go to "fool" the computer. None of these methods are guaranteed to work (but do in most cases). Re-programming your computer or buying a "chip" with the new "off-road" h-pipe programming is the best way to go, to ensure 100% proper engine performance (this is what we are doing).

![]() nah, it's just an eye sore/pain in the ***...I'm not sure, but i think it has something to do w/ the oxygen sensors. When you replace all four on the new exhaust, it messes w/ something, especially if you remove the cats. It doesn't do anything to your car, though...except that bothersome little light...

![]() There's a very good chance that the car will convert to fail-safe mode while the CEL if on. It will only come on if a sensor value strays out of a pre-programmed range. The Ford Computer is designed to compensate for this by having a pre-formatted fail-safe mode that will allow the car to "limp" home with phantom values from the missing/faulty sensor readings..

![]() From what I've read out of the tech manuals, yes, it will hurt performance, as long as the light is on. The computer stays in fail-safe mode and drives on bare minimums on everything. I notice a huge difference on Accel and Shifting on mine when the light comes on, also the MPG sucks.

![]() Hey man, don't count your self out yet..... You may not even have a problem with them....Some cars complain, some don't, you'll just have to wait and see...
