Actually, it's my buddies, but he's out of town, so I picked it up for him yesterday. It's the very first of the new 17" widescreen iMacs in Ventura County. I understand that the majority of you folks are Mac challenged, which really is kinda sad, but you guys would still love this thing. It's KILLER!!! It's fast, has the very best graphics, plays and burns both CD's and DVD's, has a gig and a half of ram, and is as quiet as a church mouse. I love the flexability of the monitor, too. Still blows me away that the whole thing is right there, no muss, no fuss.

I was supposed to go set it up for him tonight, and walk him through the basics (after 4 years of blue screens and viruses, he finally decide to move up to a Mac), but he called and said he wouldn't be ready until tomorrow, and asked if I'd mind waiting another day!!! LOL!!!!! I told him if it stays here any longer than that, it wouldn't ever leave!!

Anyway, it's a fun little guy. You should go play with one when your local stores get them. It's a Mac, you can't hurt it.

:)

Take care,
~Chris

DAMN nice computer...theres no debating that...but i still dont like the interface that MAC has....bothers me from years back when i had to use those crap black and white MACs in grade school..lol

EDIT: if its a 17" widescreen...how do they measure it? it they measure it like a normal monitor than its shorter than a 17".... ....itd be awesome if it were 17" monitor just extended by width...hrmm...i still like my 19"...

I really didn't expect to see a computer either. Looks nice, I just don't trust all that computer stuff in such a small space. Must be beacuse I spend half my time inside mine.

Nice! My mom doesn't have the "non tube" version, but she has a flat screen 24 or 27 incher, or something in that area. One of the desktop publisher perks I suppose! MS Word was giving me problems yesterday, and I was all ready to pack up my Mac next time I'm home and bring it up here! :D Quark never gives me issues like Word does

I was thinking of getting a laptop and selling this desktop, for more space. I really need to get this weight bench back together and lose this room size desk. What's one of those cost??

If you're having a problem with MS Word it is almost always caused by a file called normal.dot. Run a search for that file and delete what it finds. Might help.

The only problem I have with Macs (at least the G4's some users have at work) is the single mouse button - I keep trying to tell people to right-mouse-click for properties and they look at me like I don't have a brain in my head!

I admit that 3 buttons are too many, but 1 is too few! (and the wheel mouse is great for scrolling the internet).

My G4 has a cordless trackball with 3 buttons and a scroll wheel. I'm not sure why your fellow workers don't get a different mouse. Others are available.

That thing has got to have a small harddrive though.. guess it would be close to that of a laptop.

Man, integrated monitor, integrated Geforce4 MX series video card.

I guess if you like hot running little boxes you cant upgrade and over pay for, its kinda nice. ;)

Build a PC right, it wont crash. I have to admit the unix platform is a step in the right direction for mac though.

Id put any Imac against a $ for $ PC anyday. Yes even in Photoshop. :)

You know I'd Have to talk a little crap about it Chris, but yeah its nice. :)

What is cool though is that you can use the same Ram, hard drives, video cards and some peripherals on both pc's and macs. The only difference in hardware is the CPU/Board.
