thats what im saying, paying sorry a-- people not to work, they have new car's, they pay foriengers, to open a tax free business, etc it just goes on & on, but they hardly pay an american, serving his country, willing to die for our freedom, hardly nothing, it's so stupid, thats why i got out- 12 years wasted, i could have retired last year from the navy, for what a big 1,000 a month, you would still have to get a job, to take up the slack, take care. cya   :)

Yeah some of that money goes into my pocket. I do have to say some of it is needless spending. But hey you want to have the best equipment and be able to kick everyones butt it costs money. You want to give up money for defense spending or you want to worry about a country like iraq invading us and buring down are houses and raping our women. Think about that for a little while then tell me weather or not it is worth it. I know there is tons of places they can save money on. Hell i am one of them i break stuff all the time then just go order news ones. They can spend less money in other places and pay me more money though that would be a good idea. :D

Our Government spends money on the stupidest things... I support a big military. I don't have a problem with the almost 400 billion dollars for the military, but I do have a problem with the billion of dollars that they spend on stuff that doesn't have any effect on our nation. We are suppose to spend money to improve/sustain the quality of life, but that doesn't seem to go very well....

At $396 billion, the U.S. military budget request for FY'03 is more than six times larger than that of Russia, the second largest spender.

Russia is BROKE. Take a look at the spending #s during the cold war..... They broke the back of their economy trying to keep up with us....

It is more than 26 times as large as the combined spending of the seven countries traditionally identified by the Pentagon as our most likely adversaries (Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria).

Many of these countries still fight on horseback. You wanna trade in the Marines' tanks for the Budweiser horses?

It is more than the combined spending of the next 25 nations.

When was the last time you've seen any other nation do absolutely anything with their armed forces?
When crap hits the fan, they pick up the batphone and call the White House.

The United States and its close allies spend more than the rest of the world combined, accounting for more than two-thirds of all military spending. Together they spend over 39 times more than the seven rogue states. ("Allies" includes NATO, Australia, Japan and South Korea.)

Hence the reason you don't hear too much from the "rogue states". Remember Gaddafi? He got a big dose of STFU and he's been talking nice ever since... Saddam just has a military learning disability....

The seven potential "enemies," Russia and China together spend $117 billion, less than one-third (30%) the U.S. military budget.

Once again: Russia is BROKE
China just wants enough to take back Taiwan.... they don't have to defend the world like another country we all know....

I love to hear folks whine about military spending until their son\daughter is humpin' it over mountains in Kabul.... Then its an open check....

Victory and peace is not cheap or easy.

You wanna save some money?
Kill the federal aid assistance for illegal aliens....

You wouldn't believe the zillions that go to the medical and disability payments for people that are simply too stupid and too lazy to get a job.

Another thing I hate that keeps taxes up is if someone uses less than their budget they go and needlessly spend whatever money they saved so that funding doesn't get cut for the next year.

If you're going to be considered the most powerful nation in the world, you gotta have the balls to back it up. The only way to assure the survival of our country and our troops is to make sure we've got the best toys.

Plus, we need that big military to keep those rowdy Canadians at bay. :D

...what they pay farmer's not to grow anything

As far as that goes, you've gotta keep the farmers alive. I was raised and still live in a predominantly agricultural area. I've seen many of my close friends sell their land and get out of farming because they can't feed their families. They work harder than 90% of the people in this country, and they compose a major vertebrae in the spine of this country. The reason they need aid in the first place is the fact that our own government would rather import dirt-cheap agricultural products from other countries in the name of foreign aide/relations than to allow its own farmers to make a living. There's no way U.S. farmers can compete with slave-labor cheap foreign grain and cotton, and the price for cotton and other products is the lowest it has ever been. It was actually more profitable for farmers to plow their fields under in the last several years than it was to make a crop, harvest it, and process it. At the same time prices are dropping, costs are increasing. Implement companies basically give away farm equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in lesser developed countries while charging farmers their very livelihoods for that same equipment here.

We already depend heavily of foreign oil, and we've seen what kind of a barrel that can get us bent over. Why knee-cap ourselves in agricultural products when we can produce all we need here?

Jesus Mustangman, could you post ONE MORE TIME in this thread before it dies??? I think you may have just set a Mustangworks record...

As for spending, it'd be great if we didn't HAVE to support a military, but jerkoffs around the world have made it necessary...its the welfare hos that I hate! Popping out babies, collecting checks, and getting paid to work under the table...GRR!

Outstanding. I love the responses.

It's good to see that everyone realizes to have the best military you have to spend $$.

But like mustangman said I'm a part of that number, not that big apart though. :)
