My car has a clunk when i start out in 1st... or reverse. And when i shift it clunks if i dont really really really feather the clutch.
I pulled my driveshaft off and the U joints are solid.. I went under and check my transmount and it didnt seem wore out... I checked the rear end play at the yoke and it was just like my dads 2000 For ranger. MY trans shifts great... i even took it to a transmission place!and they said it was fine.
theres 133,000miles on the car.. anyone have this problem or know what it is?

It is your Upper control arm bushings. They are the ones that go into the axle housing and attach to the Upper control arm. They get cracked and break up. Check those. I would be willing to bet that one or both of them are shot.

ok, I crawled underneath and the two bushings your talking about do have slight cracks in them, I couldnt move the bars though. I looked at all the other ones under the rear they didnt look too bad. I could see the two rear lower large bushings that bolt to the frame, have been sliding back and fourth, the bolts were showing and looked clean, the rubber bushings rubbing on the inner bolts...
The two bushing that you were talking about are only $22, should I replace any of the other ones? Should I get aftermarket control arms? hard or soft bushings? I want a solid ride but I need to save money for my motor :)
thanks

I would just get the upper bushings and leave the rest if you are trying to save your money. If they are in good shape then just leave them. Try to get the Ford Racing bushings for the upper control arms. They are really cheap and they come with bushing already in the metal sleeve. Really nice stuff. Part # is
