I might be changing my transmission oil (T-5) this weekend and will be putting some nice fresh Red Line D4 in. I just was wondering if it is necessary to put a sealer on the threads of the fill/drain plugs when I put them back on. A friend of mine has an SHO and he said he put something called Blu-Blocker that's made by Hercules on the plugs because he was getting leaks. I'm just curious whether or not it is necessary to put a sealer on and if not if it would hurt anything if I put some on anyhow. Do they put any kind of sealant on them from the factory?

I don't think it is necessary
I've had my tranny out a few times and changed the oil every time and have never used a sealant on the threads and they never leaked.
they are a pipe thread so they seal well.
I suppose you could use a sealant anyways if it makes you feel better.
I have no idea what they do from the factory

I don't think i put anything on my tranny when i put it back in the car, but if i put anynthing on it, it was just some teflon tape. I haven't had a any problems with it.
