Default Driveshaft

my drive shaft fell off today when i was driving i figured that the shaking that i was experiencing all week was the drive shaft and today i rompt on it and it just fell
i took a closer look at it and the rear u joint caps were chipped ( it was a huge chip like half the cap was broken)
i was wondering if any one woiuld know how this could have happened
65 coupe original rearend and trranny
