![]() i got JE 8.5:1 pistons, they came with a full set of rings. are the rings that they give you any good, or should i buy some other kind.
they are going in a dart blocked turbo 347, im looking to boost around 15psi, then up to 18-19 when i get some balls ![]() |

![]() Well they have been around for a long time, and they make good pistons. I can't imagine they'd give you crappy rings, although if your gonna run boost, you better make sure they aren't cast iron rings.

![]() What kind of rings are they?
Make sure you use "Moly" rings. If they are not moly, id toss them.

![]() You should of got a sheet with the pistons saying what they are, and what to gap them at. I got JE rings with mine and they are a good ring. If you don't have this sheet DON"T install them until you find out what they are. There is allot of stuff to know when doing this, it will make or break your engine.
I still have my spec sheet and if you want I can e-mail all the info to you if you need it. Also you will need a ring file.

![]() OK i found the sheet, and it told me nothing......but the sticker on the top of the ring box did.
top ring: 4.030+.005x116 ductile iron-plasma moly-barrel second ring:4.030+.005x1/16 cast iron-phosphate-taper face oil ring: 4.030x3/16 carbon steel-chrome plated-std. tension ANY GOOD OR NOT? |
