$305............holy shiznit

you do know that thats just an explorer intake right, and not the actual frpp gt 40 intake.
you could have probably got it at a junk yard for less than half that.

That price was just a little bit high but not much.

I paid $200.00 for my upper and lower explorer intake off of ebay and it was brand new.

The GT-40 isnt any better than the GT- 40p explorer intake.

You should see a nice HP gain with the intake and 65mm TB, I know I did.

Later,

I picked my explorer intake up for $150 and I love it.

Do some mild porting, and cleanup on the ports, and it will respond very well.

Center your intake gaskets to the lower intake, and scribe lines on the inside of the gasket ports. Then port to this size and smooth it back into the intake.

I thought $310 with shipping, the upper, lower, and 65 mm throttle body was a pretty good deal. I had it at $230.00, but some ***** put up $300 on it. I didn't want to let this package get away. I'm a little worried because the seller hasn't replied yet.

Is the 65 mm throttle body to intake matched well, or is there any porting that should be done there as well?

This thread should answer any and all question you might have. I posted some pics of mine and how I ran the vacuum lines etc...

I called my local junkyards and no luck. I had called a few months ago and they said I could get the upper/lower for about $110.00, but when I went by later, they said they don't have any and they only sell the whole engine. link I have no room or means to transport an entire engine anyways.

Anyways, I kind of feel pretty stupid now. Thanks.

Unless you have already paided for it, you don't HAVE to pay the money. You'd look like a *** and probably get a negative rating, but you'd save 200 bucks.

it's tough, sometimes you just cant find the parts in junkyards.. I know here in the northeast, there isnt alot of SPACE... so most junk yards dont have alot of stock of older cars... and when they do the turn over is short... sometimes you have to bite the bullet and spend the money... though sometimes its better to buy some aftermarketm intake or wait till something comes your way..

I am going to have to chalk this one up as a learning experience. Hopefully somebody in the same situation will see this thread and learn from it.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know where I can get a set of BBK longtubes w/ matching h-pipe cheap?

I hear you, don't even try a junkyard here in NYC, unless you want parts for a 2001 civic.....
I was lookin for a reinforced tailgate (can hold a spare tire) for a 90 S-10 Blazer and I tried bout 40 places and could not find one!

It's tough when you live in a city... I grew up on long island and it's alittle better then boston, but it's all about land... most junk yards dont keep ful cars.. they get the cars in and strip them down and get rid of all the rest... I couldnt find an overflow bottle cause that's not something they generaly keep. Anyway... just a word about EBAY... you can get some good deals... but you can also end up paying more for stuff then it's worth... always check around for going rates on stuff... cause chances are you'll have a couple days to put in your bid... also, try checking the classifieds on this board... you'll find some good stuff in there at good prices and you dont have to wait and bid for them
