Question converter on AOD

I was wondering what the stall is for a stock converter for an aod is? I have a buddy that is selling a 2500 stall converter from art carr and was wondering if it would make that much of a difference on a motor with stock heads and intake.

Sure, that converter would be a great improvement over the stock unit. I believe the stock converter is somewhere around 1200 to 1400 rpms, but don't quote me. Is that Art Carr unit a lock up or non lock up one?

That's the exact converter that I have. It's advertized stall speed is 3000 to 3500 rpm's. Mine stall's right around 3200 rpm's. I noticed a big difference once I put this converter in. How much is he selling it to you for?

he is asking 100 for it. I think it might be too much for stock heads and intake. But i do plan on adding some minor mods to it in the near future though. If it is a good price i will get it and keep it until i do more to the car.

I'm not sure how well that converter would react with a fairly stock motor. When I installed my converter I still had the stock heads, but I did have a cam and intake. This converter really helped with the cam I have, before the converter the car would bog bad at low rpms. I believe retail price on that converter is around $350, so a $100 isn't bad. I also bought mine used, you will just have to make sure it was not abused by the previous owner, and such info to determine if its worth the hassle of installing. Good luck!
