I was in Pasadena sitting at a stoplight in my '91 LX. I really wasn't paying attention to much of anyting, just listening to CDs and zoning out. When the light finally turned green, a motorcycle in the lane next to me took off really hard.

The bike got the jump from the stoplight, since I didn't even know he wanted to race. Before he got away completely, I got on it hard in first gear, did a 1 - 2 upshift, and caught up to him at about 70.

When we got to the next intersection, the rider gave me a thumbs up and said he usually doesn't have any trouble beating cars. He then asked me if my car was a 5-liter and I said yes. I asked him what kind of bike he had. He said it was a Goldwing, and he bought it a year ago.

According to the Internet, Goldwings run anywhere from low to high 12s in the quarter mile, so I felt pretty good about beating a bike.

Wow! I had no idea they were that quick! I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of high 13's - low 14's. I thought they were more the heavy, luxury cycles that weren't that quick - guess not.

Nice win. :)
