Default 4 cyl tranny in a 5.0

I have an 1989 gt con. I want to swap the auto for a manual. I have heard that the tranny out of a 4cyl will work with a new pilot bushing. I would like to no if there are anymore things i would have to change to make this swap possible. Or is it easier to us a t5 from an 5.0, can i use a proformance clutch? will it hold up to some abuse?

My car just has bold on's. headers, x-pipe, pulleys, mas air meter, throttle body, cold air intake. any advice will be greatly appraciated
