Default Suspension HELP!!

Other than being lowered an inch, my front suspension on my 89 GT is stock.

The other day my Ball joint crapped out on the right side and needs a fix. My mechanic tells me he can fix it, but it probably won't work as nicely as it did before and I should probably replace the arm. I've never dealt with this problem before.

My question is whether I should fix it or buy tubular A-arms for it. And if I do replace them, what is the best kit? It looks like I will have to go to coil-over if I use tubular and is it really worth it?

Thank you in advance for any help.
