I don't know if it's necessarily the same situation, but I had a small problem with hesitation a few years ago. My problem was solved by purchasing Taylor ignition wires to replace my old Motorsports wires, which were arcing pretty bad on certain cylinders.

sounds like it could be a timing or timing advance problem.

have your changed your timing from its stock setting?

also check to see that it is stock or whereever the cam or other parts specify. i had the problem on my car with my timing was too advanced. it would hesitate for a second before it would take off and had small backfires while trying to start the car after it was warm.. tapped the timing down a little and the car starts perfectly every time and the hesitation is totally gone. what a big difference that made.

Unless you have a new cap and rotor get them. Are your plugs old, and what are they gapped at? Unless you are SURE that the ignition system all checks out don't bother spending money on new parts.
After that check the fuel pressure with the vacuum off. If you are a 30psi at WOT chances are you are going lean, which will cause a intake backfire sometimes.
