![]() My 87GT would just suddenly stall, no sputtering or surging,
just stall after driving for about 45 minutes. I've had the tfi ,pick up coil and ignition coil replaced. so now i'm suspecting it's the fuel pump since it is humming kinda loud. i could hear it specially when i'm at idle on a stop sign. should i go ahead and get it replaced? thx in advance |

![]() Ok, so here I am again with another car problem.
The linkage on my car broke (the equalizer outer bracket snapped). So I replaced the bracket, my pedal linkage, put in new springs, etc. Hell while I was there I replaced the clutch (the previous i learned to drive stick on), the clutch disc, throwout bearing. I even added a new Hurst shifter. Now this all looks good, and new, but the car will no go. If I startt he car in neauttral the clutch will not let me shift, and if I start the car in gear it just lurches forward. The clutch does not seem to get full travel, the pedal only gets stiff about halfway down and then it goes to the floor. I have checked my setup (linkages, shifter, clutch, etc.) about 4 times now. It all looks good, but the damn clutch will not engage. Can someone possible through me a line, I have beat my head against the wall to no avail... ___________________________________ 1967 Coupe 200 inline 6 cylinder engine Currently in the process of ressurrection. ![]() Andrea:
Before getting a new fuel pump, I would check to see what kind of fuel pressure you have, and yes replace that fuel filter. Pressure should be quite high, around 50 psi if I remember right? You might have better luck with this question in the Windsor section. Vishnoff: Are you the same person? Might help to start a new thread. Did you use an allignment tool to hold the clutch disk in place when you assembled? Shouldn't matter since it all went back toghether. Your clutch is fully engaged and is not disengaging. I would adjust the linkage adjustment to engage the clutch sooner in your pushing the pedal to the floor. If that dosen't do it, I would question if the throwout bearing was in backwards or not? If it is missaligned or backwards, it may not be traveling far enough to disengage the clutch. |
