Default soft top removal

I own a '72 Grande with a soft top. The roof seems to have a leak, but the leak is somewhere underneath the soft top and I have no clue how to remove this top. I want to remove the top and place it back the way it was without using new parts, is this possible?

Holland, eh? Definitions are in order such that we're on the same track. Soft top in America means convertible, vinyl top means a fabric insert glued to the metal roof. I assume you mean the latter:

If true, the "soft top" or vinyl as we call it is glued to the roof meaning its near impossible to remove it and replace it using the same material. Normally its simply stripped off and replaced with new material after the roof sheet metal is repaired, cleaned, primed and painted. Replacement vinyl tops are generally available stateside for your '72. NPD's catalog lists it as 71-73 in black, white, or buckskin color $56.95.

Default translating isn't easy...

Jeff65,

Your right, I did mean vinyl top. The roof feld soft, then my imagination takes over and parts are renamed. But the more I use this site, the more I use the real names for the parts.

Thanks for the reply,

Niels
