![]() i havent been to the track with this car yet. the owner before me told me what he got, but i wanted to see what you think she will run. i will run it on regular street tires. So please assume that the launch was perfect and shifting was perfect....what do you think she will run? i also do not have AC and the smog pump (they were removed). I am also having an electric fan installed as we speak too, if that make a diffrence! thanks
ALSO, what rpm should i shift at in this car. it seems to pull all the way to red line where as my other stang which was stock never did. thanks for all replies.

![]() i definately think you will be around 13 with the holley kit...it really depends on how much hook up you get with that much horsepower to the rear wheels. maybe you should get some street slicks.

![]() high 13's to low 14's! You must be talking about a stock stang with boltons! read what is in my sig again. I ran a 14.2 at 98 mph in an 89 lx convert. w/ exhaust and gears. If I can only muster a high 13 or low 14, I am selling this car!

![]() its highly unlikely you ran a 14.2 in a stock convertible. Sorry, but I just dont believe it.
My experince tells me you might see a mid high 13.

![]() OK, I am making u pthe 14.2!! NOT. i have the slip in front of me. it reads 14.204 at 99.77 with a 2.303 60' time! i still have this convertaible trying to sell it now. the guy who owned the car before me said that he ran 13.4 consistently with a 13.2 best time. I wanted to see what other people with the Holley II kit ran! Anyone have that kit that can tell me? Thanks

![]() You said regular street tires. your not going to get a perfect launch with regular street tires. and that 3.55 gear is ok but if it pulls to 6K then you can use more gear.
here's a post with alot of info on the systemaxII kit http://www.corral.net/forums/showthr...hreadid=124340

![]() lx mike, did u read the link you sent me. it looks like they are running low 13's and some 12's. i'm not trying to step on toes here, but I DID run that 14.2 in my 89. I AM a pretty damn good driver though. Your right, the averqage driver could not obtain the numbers I did, and I was on street tires. I hope to be low 13's with this set up. Thanks for all replies, especially you sdd. looks like you should be in the low 14's like I was, IF NOT faster. You are a little lighter than my vert. Same mods though

![]() sorry, not convinced.
I am perfectly capable of driving with the best of them, and I have never driven, nor seen an exhaust/gears vert go 14.2 consistently on street tires. I have a friend with a vert that rips of 13.6's all day long in an exhaust/gears vert... well there's that stroker too, and that intake, and cam.... you get my point. To me, this is no different than some moron at a meet telling me his civic with a CAI and pulleys runs 13's cause it's light and revs to 8000 rpms.

![]() My combo runs low 13's and highest trap speed is now 105.87 so I'd think you could do the same.
I'm either going to throw a power adder at it or switch to a set of 430's. The 373's aren't cutting it and I think you'll be wishing you had more than 355's

![]() I was running a 13.66 @102 with nitto drag radials in my bolt on with ported heads and 3.73 gears 88GT vert.
So I believe it. As for what you will run if you dont trap 105 and run at least a 13.5 you cant drive. There are guys over here with the systemax kit running 12 flat @ 110mph.

![]() 93 GtDIN You should be driving a civic for being a dunbass. My 14.2 was on street tires as you can tell with my 60' time. Anyways, I wish that i did have 3.73's cause my other car had them and it feels quicker from the start! We'll have to find out soon!
93 GTDIN, If you want to buy my UNBELIEVABLY fast 89 stang convertible, come on over its for sale- you loser!

![]() Jimmy: yes i did read the post. thats why i thought it would help with answering your question.
you should see low 13's with 105-107 mph range. I have a heads, cam intake and lt header combo and i ran 13.37 @105 with a 1.9x 60' time. soon as these trire i use wear out i'm gonna get a set of slicks and if i don't run a 12 then my car is for sale!! ![]()

![]() now, as far as I'm concerned, the slanderous talk here is uncalled for.
I'm simply stating that I do not believe your stock convertible ran a 14.2 on street tires. I just dont believe it, and you calling me dumb is not gonna change that. Show me a video and i'll believe it. Read around, do some research, and you'll find 14.2's in a stock full weight vert are extremely rare numbers. I dont doubt you think you ran a 14.2, but chances are there are lurking variables, such as something being wrong with your track or its equipment. For instance, My car runs 3 tenths slower at San Antonio Raceway than it does in Tyler, TX. Does this mean my car is moody? No, the track in Tyler is shorter than it should be and slightly downhill, but that doesnt stop people from saying their cars are faster than they really are. I used the HP analyzer on this website to calculate your estimated horsepower, and with the numbers you gave 14.2@99.7 + a full weight vert @ 3600 lbs (conservative) you should be making 280 horsepower. It doesnt specify wheel or flywheel, but as far as I know, exhaust will rarely net you +60hp. These statistics are crude, but they prove my point.

![]() If its a 14.2 that is in question I hit a 14.0 with gears ,nittos, headers and exhaust but my mph was only 96.
In a 88 speed density GT vert. I guess you are really gonna call me a liar when I bust off a 12 @104+ with my 90LX. Its almost complete. I dont doubt the ET but the MPH does sound high. I have seen some strange stuff in my days at the track. There is a supercharged V8 02' Saleen that cant beat a 14.4 @94mph. Go figure ![]()

![]() buddy, you know who Cole TRickle is? I am similar to that guy. I am telling you the truth when I have the slip here/ I NEVER said I ran it consistently however it is my best time with that car. I could run 14.4's all day in it. I apologize for calling you a "dumbass" but it just ruffles my feathers when people who I don't know call me a liar. The calculations you looked up coud and probably are not accurate. Many other people run low 14's with my mods on my convertible, just look at their sigs.
LX MIKE- sorry I thought you wre the other guy, thanks for the info about the kit. We will find out soon enough when this baby is at the track. I will post numbers, EVEN (BIG IF) it on ly runs high 13's (which I highly doubt). Later, COLE TRICKLE

![]() 1jimmy__d my brother had the same set as you exactly he ran it and i ran it and he got 13.20 and i got 12.90 im a little better drive then he is, he then put slicks on and went with 4.30 gears and he ran 12.40 and i ran 12 flat so what what i would do if i were you is put the bigger gears in and and try that, i have 4.10 in my stang and and M/T et streets, its great because you can have fun on the streets but if you go with the 4.30 and have street tires you will not believe the difference you will gain. As for you other car i believe it, i had a 86 gt with the 302HO engine with longtubes offroad H pipe and flows and no A/C of smog and i ran 14 flat. It really depend on how you drive, so from my track time i know your not lying, and i got the around the same time at 4 different tracks. SO with your new set up go with the new gears for now (4.10 or 4.30) and tires latter. Later
Ernie
