I am looking into getting new heads for my car. I just wanted a few suggestions on which heads to get. I want to keep the price reasonable... preferrably lower than $1000. I've got a cobra intake and computer, flowmaster 3 chamber exhaust, 24 lb injectors, adj fuel reg, 65mm throttle body, 80mm mass air, 3.27 gears w/ posi, and a few more little things. I'm looking to get into mid 13's, I have not taken it to the track yet so I don't know what it runs right now. Anyway, what heads/cam would be best for the mods I already have. Thanks a lot.

Mid 13's are easy to get, if your on a budget. You dont need expensive aluminum heads.
I run mid 13's with TFS intake/cast GT40 heads/stock cam, and all the little bolt-ons you can name.

If you do want aluminum, Id go with the TrickFlow Twisted Wedge heads and Stage 1 TrickFlow cam. Run you about $1150 for both.

You can get GT40 cast heads or windsor Jr. heads all day long for $400-500 all re-done, that will get you in the 13's. ;)

I stumbled across a pair of trick flow twisted wedge aluminum heads. The guy I am potentially buying them from said that they are the older style, with the 2.08 intake and 1.65 exhaust valves. He said that he paid $2400 for them and wants $1000 for them. Can anyone find the set I am talking about or maybe have them now and can tell me what you think of them....I looked thru summit and couldn't find them, the part # is 10497. Also, do you guys think that they are worth the $1000 investment?

80 mm maf? that seems a little big, i would suggest steeper gearing, i run the 3.27, but i hate them now after driving a car with 4.10's....:o

aluminum heads will get you there in no time, and they are light.

just to give you an idea of what a set of TFS heads should cost used.... a new set goes for about $1000 give or take... used shouldnt be that much.. I bought my heads, street intake, with 70mm TB and EGR all for 1000 used...

When people say "old sytyle" TFS heads, they are usually talking about the high-ports that require special headers. Are you sure he said twisted wedge?

Even if they are "old style" TFS TW heads, that would mean they were from when they first came out, I guess. I remember that - they had a LOT of problems with valve guides and such, avoid them.

Just pick up a new set of TFS TW, but you will be spending more that $1000 by the time you get pushrods, rocker arms, gaskets. Its going to be hard to get it done for less than about $1400, with good parts.

Or I recommend some edelbrock performer 5.0 heads which can use the same valvetrain hardware, this could save you some money, and the edelbrock heads are awesome heads also.

Ever hear of thumper heads? Try this website and judge for yourself. You can have completely ported & polished E7 heads for $600

I was thinking about going with these heads myself but decided to have my 351w heads rebuilt instead.
