I just purchased my 5th stang - a 2003 Blue GT - Have only done slight mods so far - The other day in traffic, my AC got hot on me and my temp gauge went into the high quadrant for a few moments - then i heard this tick and the AC got cold, temp gauge went back to middle zone.
Could this be the thermostat 'sticking'? or should I bring my car into Ford for a diagnostic? It happened again the other day - the car is new - this shouldnt be happening right?
Keep in mind that it was over 100 degrees on both occasions and in traffic....
Anybody experiencing this also?

I would take it back to the dealer and have them find what's wrong...
I run my car all day long in stop and go traffic while it's 117 outside and my air is like ice... and my temp guage stays straight up and down.

I agree..Take it back to the dealer. I have a 2000 GT and it has never given me any trouble.

Here is what the boys at Ford discovered/repaired:
Cooling system slightly low on coolant
Replaced Radiator Cap - It held no pressure
Replaced Thermostat - no explanation given
Car running fine......so far.......

OK - So i am driving home today in traffic and guess what happens...after 20 mins in bumper-to-bumper traffic with my AC on, my temp gauge slowly moves into the high zone and my AC goes hot on me......again!
I had to turn off the AC because it was blowing hot air. When i turned off the AC, the temp level went down. This happened 3 times on my way home......all this and just after this problem was supposedly fixed yesterday by a Dealership here in Denver - see previous posts...
Woah is me - back to the dealer.....again!
Anyone experiencing this type of problem - please let me know.
Thanks!

Try a different dealer... it sounds like you have an A/C problem not a coolant problem. When my coolant is low my temp guage will go up and my radiator light will come on but my A/C still blows cold...
But then, I'm not a mechanic so I'm only relating my experience...

Thanks for the info.....I brought the car back there just now - This is one of the largest dealerships in Denver and since they goofed up once already, they are treating me like gold - free loaner, etc..
I'll know soon what they find....

Just as a side note:
I bought my '98 GT 'vert in Colorado Springs and never had to use the air conditioner there.... ever...
Aren't you guys getting afternoon thunder showers this time of year?
Just razzing you... I know '90 degrees there is hot!
Let us know what they end up finding... ;)

ok so now the frustration sets in - the dealership could not recreate the problem - so they couldnt find anything wrong...
My last option is to bring it in while the car is running hot so they can check it out while the problem is happening...guess I'll just do burnouts in the Ford parking lot for 30 mins until the thing heats up again hmm?
I guess I have a quirky AC system....lucky me.
Colorado does usually get PM rain showers but not this month - it's very hot and dry......
