water pump inlets

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but all of the hoses going onto the water pump are inlets, correct? The only outlets go into the block and up out of the thermotstat housing into the radiator right? Reason I ask is, I have no heater core, so i need to plug one of the tubes, if it's an inlet, I'll just cap it with a rubber cap. Thanks.

You're right...cap that inlet. (the 5/8 inlet pipe) Theres two of them the top one goes to the thermostate bypass and the bottom one goes to the heater core.
