I've heard of it being done and I've heard it was a nightmare. Good luck!

Thumbs up

the best thing to do is use a rear wiring harness from that year or at least 87 up (i believe will work) and a winshield motor from same the headlight harness should plug in its a easy swap done it many times. also your fuel gauge wont work you have to use a tank from a newer one and switch the pickups
leaving sender in tank. 87s up havine diff locations for both. i have all parts for switchover exct tank. email me if you need anything reasonable my stuffs 89 garbeck1@msn.com

i have managed to get the headlights and dome light on. The tach is about 2000 rpm off. The guage lights arent on though. The blinkers and the brights are the only thing working

I've heard that if you use a tachometer from a 4 cylinder car it'll read really funny in an 8 cylinder car so that may be that problem. Good luck, i was someday thinking of doing the same thing as you're doing, keep us posted!

I gave up on trying to cut and splice the harnesses together. I wired up all aftermarket guages. Tach, water temp, volts, oil press, and fuel. The dash looks great, the brake handle has to be changed to a newer handle and cable. Except for the 85 seats you could never tell is a 85
