I really want to get an off road X-pipe but I'm afraid that it will draw to much of the bad (police) attention. Can anyone that has heard an O/R pipe on car set up like mine tell me how it sounds? My exaust is pretty much stock with flowmaster 40 series mufflers welded in place of the fords.

Why not go with a "high flow" catted pipe? There's not much difference in HP (your 281 needs some back pressure) and the sound is still "racey". Besides, you won't have to worry MUCH about emissions inspections or the Police. Maryland is an ODBII test now but visuals are coming soon. Just my opinion, I've been using a catted X-pipe since 1998 with no problems.

My brother has an offroad Bassani X-pipe with 40 serires flows welded in the stock catback on his 99GT. In both our opinions the car is way too loud. When you jump on it, you can hear it from a half mile away. Plus, with the flows, the drone is so rediculous that if you drive with the windows up, your head hurts after 5 minutes. I had the same setup on my old 5.0, and it wasn't nearly as obnoxious. He's planning on a catback with different mufflers. But if that doesn't help with the drone, he's buying a catted X-pipe.

The only problem I have with the catted X-Pipe is they are so exspensive. I need to do some more research, but that may be the way to go. As for emissions and visuals, I have a guy who will change the pipe back to stock when its time for testing. Sence I do alot of business in his shop, he dosen't charge me much.
