Awhile ago the black piece that your key goes into to help turn it broke on my 95 Cobra. I think this is pretty common on the 94-95 stangs. Anybody ever fix it or can give me some help???

Replace it. I believe its called a lock cylinder.

Anybody ever replace one, I know it's broke just don't know if I have to take the steering column apart or if it's one piece or not.

to do one on an 87-93 is no biggie. i dont know the differences with the SN95's. if you can rotate the cylinder, turn it to run. then with the column cover off, you will see a pin. use a punch, etc to push the pin in. then slide the cylinder out.

new cylinder: turn it to run. pop it in.

good luck with it......

Cool, thanks. I hope the airbag won't interfere with it. Never really messed with a newer mustang.

hhhmm, had not thought of that. the best bet might be to disconnect the battery before beginning work, as well as following whatever other safety cautions are recommended. you would not want to accidentally bash something with the crash sensors, etc.

good luck.
