Post My '82GT is almost ready!!

Finally, after about a year my wiring harness fried, the beast is almost ready to come out and play!
I just finished installing a new wiring harness and now I am just waiting for my 100amp PowerMaster alternator to arrive.
It is a one wire unit because I got tired of chasing wires to get the charging system to work. I might relocate the battery to the hatch area and I am also going to install 11inch rotors on the front and upgrade to 15inch wheels/tires
Slowly but surely, it's getting back on it's feet!!

Good to hear 82GT!
I was wondering if you could please give me a web site link, email address or phone # to get in touch with PowerMaster. My car has a few external regulator problems that are temporarily fixed (until one of the other decayed wires decides to open/short) and installing a one wire alternator would put a big grin on my face (i've been looking to get one but can't find any that fit a serpentine belt system mustang). How much did you pay for it?
Thank you,
glad to hear your GT is getting back into action!

I got mine from Summit racing for $119. Their address is www.summitracing.com
You can also check out these sites also:
www.powermastermotorsports.com www.pa-performance.com

Powermaster sends both belts. Pa-performance sells the 3G alternators with one wire setup also available.

Aren't you the guy with a wiring harness problem also. Did you get one installed yet?
I replaced mine a few weeks ago and everything works again! It's not as hard a job to do as it seems.
I hope my info helps you out. Let me know if you want to know anything alse. I am expecting the alternator to arrive Monday or Tuesday and I can let you know how it works and how the installation went.

Thank you very much 82GT!
My wiring harness hasn't melted/been totally wasted, but i have alot of cracked/decayed wires and my car for the longest time had a charging problem because the power wire to the regulator wasn't getting power. I have alot of wiring i'll have to do in the future, so maybe i should invest in a new harness. I'm getting an '89 GT that i'll drive everyday, so my '84 car will be on standby for a while, while i convert it to being a street/stip race car. Definately let me know how the install went, i definately look forward to the time i can get rid of all that regulator wiring crap. thanks again!

- Do you have the part # for the alternator that you ordered? thanks, i'll probably buy that soon.

The part # through Summit racing is:
PWM-8-57100
It is a 100amp unit but you can get a 140amp unit for a little more money. Since I don't have a big stereo system or high current accessories I figure the 100amp unit is plenty for me. In my last post I told you it came with both belts, what I meant to say is that it comes with both pulleys.
This charging problem has kept the car of the streets for too long!! I figure if I costs me over $100 to solve the charging problem and tracing wires all over the place...then so be it!
I'll let you know how it goes
