Default Brake adjustment/ wheel fit

This morning i replaced my wheel cylinders and brake lines to the rubber hose on the axle, i took off all the brake shoes etc. now how do i adjust the adjusters right? The other thing is the axle dampers, i have 15*7 rims on now but im going to upgrade to 17 cobra r's, will those axle damper get in the way?

To adjust the brakes you would turn the starwheel down towards the ground if your facing the wheel. ( up if your behind the wheel working through the small hole in the backing plate.) It should turn fairly easy one way, and not at all the other way if you have the self adjuster set up right. As far as the wheels go, height is not so much an issue as width, and every body seems to be able to run different widths without interference. If you have aftermarket L.C.A.'s you shouldn't need the dampeners anyways.

So if i have aftermarket L.C.A's i can throw the damper in the trash? i have stock L.C.A still and i want to buy the rims and tires now i think rim size will be 17*9, they look like they'll rub the damper?
how far do you adjust the adjusters, i cleaned them and they went all the way down, so how many turn? or do they adjust them selves? i heard that if you stop hard in reverse a couple of time they should adjust them selves, the reason i'm asking is i think i opened them to far it sounds like the brake shoe are rubbing all the time.

Yes, with most aftermarket LCAs you don't need the dampners. I have Megabite JRs and removed mine a long time ago. I am running 17x8 99+ GT wheels w/245/40s on my 1985 with no rubbing issues in the rear.

As far as the self-adjusters go, I would back them off until you don't hear the shoes rubbing and adjust them by braking in reverse a few times as suggested. I am running 17x8 99+ GT wheels w/245/40s on my 1985 with no rubbing issues in the rear.

So you got 245/40s all around the car?
which L.C.A does not allow removal of the dampners?

I only said most because I didn't want to make a blanket statement that all of the LCAs would eliminate the need for dampners. Yes, I have 99 GTwheels and tires on all four corners. The fronts do rub on the inner fender when turning sharply.
