Default aftermarket whees, Drivability??

well, I finally got my new wheels on the car, but I am sad to say they do not clear as perfectly as they led me to believe.
16X8 bullits by Dante...with 4.5 inch backspacing
225 50 r16 front
245 50 r16 rear
the front are rubbing when I turn, if there is a bump or dip in the process of the turn. I think the shocks fell pretty crappy, so I am going to replace them (front) tomorrow. Any ideas? the front is lowered 1.5 inches or so....but they swore I could still clear them.
if you would like to see some early pictures of before and after....I posted some in the blue oval forum
