Default Electrical headaches

Finally got the new stereo "system" installed and keep blowing fuses. Yeah I know what a surprise! lol The power amp is wired right to the battery so thats not the problem. The head unit along with the power antena, oh and also the tach, all have constant hot, and switched hot leads. Funny thing the constant hots are not the fuses blowing. The turn signal fuse is the one going. I've moved the leads around with the same result. the turn sig fuse blows. I know 1970 electronics are not up to snuff with todays systems but I figured they would be able to handle the job. My next move is to wire the hot leads to the battery, with a nice size wire and fuse. Then wire the switched leads to the accessory post. Also with inline fuses. But the thing is that from what I can tell from the wiring chart is, the power going to the accessory post still has to travel through the turn signal, and the other switched fuses. Am I headed in the right direction with this? The turn signals were fine before the "system" install. I did change the steering wheel to a Grant. That install did go fine and I do intend to check the wires in the colum again. But I don't think that was the root of the problem.. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
