![]() I would take it to a machine shop that has a good assortment of taps and dies. They may be able to clean up the threads if they are not too badly mangled. That would be my first effort, anyway.

![]() You'll need a 3/4-20UNEF (extra fine) die to chase the threads. I've had this happen before myself. The die is not easy to find, but if you have a machine supply warehouse nearby, they should have or be able to get it for you.
