Default 1968 nugget gold interior details

Hi folks,

I hope someone can help with this.

I am re-restoring my 1968 Mustang, and need some information about the proper colors of the interior components. The car has the Nugget Gold interior (code 2Y), and when I bought it 15 years ago it had already been cosmetically restored. Most of the interior parts were gold, but the carpet and dash pad were black. This never looked right, and I would like to restore the car with the correct colors.

I have just about every Mustang restoration book available, but have never found any description of what the individual component colors should be. The few cars I've seen in magazines and car shows with a Nugget Gold interior have varied in the colors of the carpet, dash pad, and the horn pad. Apparently Nugget Gold was not a very common color, and many of the aftermarket suppliers do not offer parts in this color, which may explain the variations I've seen.

Also, vendors offer interior lacquer and vinyl die in two shades of Nugget Gold- light and dark.

My questions are:

1. What color should the carpet be?

2. What color should the dash pad and the pad above the glove box be?

3. What is the correct shade of Nugget Gold for painting interior sheet metal parts (doors, dash panel, and rear seat side panels)?

Thanks all!
